Eiffel Tower Wake-Up Call: Two Inebriated American Tourists Found Asleep at the Iconic Monument

Paris, France – A rather peculiar incident took place at the world-renowned Eiffel Tower this Saturday. Two American tourists, visibly intoxicated, were found sleeping peacefully at one of the tower’s highest points.

Upon a routine check, security personnel stumbled upon the duo on the tower’s second level, surprisingly close to the summit. Devoid of any identification and under the influence, they were promptly woken and escorted down.

Authorities transported the pair to the local police precinct for questioning. Interestingly, they faced no charges and were later released.

This event is yet another addition to the ever-growing list of security concerns associated with the Eiffel Tower. Previous incidents include a daredevil’s climb to the tower’s apex in 2015 and an unauthorized entry by tourists who bypassed security barriers in 2017.

Drawing millions globally, the Eiffel Tower stands as a testament to architectural wonder. However, its fame also makes it a high-security target, evident from numerous past attack attempts. One notable incident from 1995 involved Algerian terrorists aiming to bomb the structure. Fortunately, the bomb failed, but the repercussions were visibly scarring. A decade later, in 2015, an individual targeted the tower, leading to a fatal police confrontation.

With modern surveillance measures, including high-tech cameras and vigilant guards, one might assume the Eiffel Tower is impenetrable. However, these breaches indicate existing security gaps.

In response, the French administration is revisiting the tower’s security protocols. One proposed solution gaining traction is the installation of a protective moat surrounding the tower to dissuade potential climbers.
