Facebook & Instagram Down for Millions of Users

If you tried logging into Facebook or Instagram this afternoon and got hit with an error screen or got randomly logged out, you’re not alone. Both platforms are currently experiencing a widespread outage affecting millions of users around the world.

Outage tracking service IsDown confirmed the disruption at 2:42 PM BST on Friday, reporting nearly 5,000 user reports in the past 24 hours. Instagram isn’t off the hook either — Entireweb recorded 67 Instagram error reports in a single hour, with 201 reports over 24 hours.

Users have reported a range of issues — getting suddenly logged out, feeds refusing to load, apps crashing seconds after opening, and login loops where entering the correct password just kicks you back to the login screen. StatusGator detected the Instagram incident at 1:43 PM BST on June 12, describing it as “Instagram website not loading and messaging issues.”

The outage isn’t limited to the U.S. Reports have flooded in from the UK, Australia, India, and across Europe, making this a global disruption. Social media users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent, with posts like “Mine logged me out — Instagram is down too!” trending as people scrambled for answers.

As of publication, Meta has not issued any public statement on the outage, and it remains unclear what is causing the disruption or when normal service is expected to resume.

For creators and page owners, this means scheduled posts may fail, ad delivery could be interrupted, and monetization tools may be temporarily inaccessible. The safest move right now is to hold off on content pushes until the platforms stabilize, and redirect any urgent updates to YouTube or X in the meantime.

MeekoMedia will continue to monitor the situation. Check back for updates as the story develops.
