HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 30-year-old man is facing a murder charge after authorities say his 64-year-old father was found stabbed to death inside a northwest Harris County home on Thursday, August 27.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Aubrey Sanders, 64, and the accused as his son, Liam Jacob Sanders, 30. Deputies were sent shortly after 11 a.m. to a home in the 16700 block of Stoneside Drive, near Longenbaugh Drive, after an emergency call concerning a stabbing.
Investigators said Liam Sanders told a 911 dispatcher that he had stabbed his father. When deputies arrived, they detained him at the residence. Inside the home, deputies found Aubrey Sanders suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez later said homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded and conducted the preliminary investigation. Liam Jacob Sanders was charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not publicly announced what they believe led to the fatal confrontation or released a motive. A murder charge is an allegation, and Sanders is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Sheriff’s officials have also said deputies had previously responded to the same residence in May 2025 for separate incidents, including a domestic disturbance and a mental-health-related call. Authorities have not said those earlier calls were connected to Thursday’s death, and they should not be interpreted as an explanation for what happened.
The killing adds to a series of violent incidents investigated across the Houston area this week and has left another family facing a devastating loss while detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
